DIY Pumpkin Spice Coffee

I am 100% “basic” in the fact that I love when September 1st rolls around and I can finally drink pumpkin spice and enjoy it in all of its glory. I won’t lie, I’ll drink a Starbucks pumpkin spice, especially their pumpkin cold brew, at least once a season, but if I’m really being honest, it’s not the best thing in the world. I understand why people don’t like it. I love pumpkin, but if you know what’s in the famous PSL, you’d be grossed out too. So rather than spending $5-$7 and ingesting the chemically, orange tepid syrup, I decided to learn how to make my own pumpkin spice coffee at home to satisfy the craving at a fraction of the cost. There are several recipes that I’ve seen on Pinterest but I decided to wing it and figure out what worked for me with the ingredients I had. Now it’s not fast by any means, but I’d rather make it fresh than making a sugary syrup to have on hand. I also don’t want it every day so it works out to make whenever I feel like it. So here is my healthier, tastier, cheaper version of the PSL that you could make at home with regular coffee or espresso. That being said.. if you catch me with a store bought PSL when I’m out- mind your business. 😂

DIY PUMPKIN SPICE RECIPE

• Coffee (or espresso)

• Creamer *pumpkin spice if you can* or milk - heat & froth

• 1-2 tbsps pumpkin purée

• Tap of allspice, nutmeg & cinnamon

Make your coffee (or espresso).

Heat & froth your creamer (I did a mixture of pumpkin spice creamer & milk but I’ve also done just unsweetened vanilla almond milk).

Pour the milk (save the foam) into your mug.

Add the pumpkin & spices and blend.

Pour your coffee in, mix & top with foam & cinnamon.

Enjoy! 🍂
